Why this course
You are a manager or staff member working for a consultancy firm, an NGO or a government institute, involved in writing project proposals or in responding to tenders for services. You have a project idea that needs funding. You want to respond to a request for proposals or mobilise new resources for your organisation. You want to demonstrate your added value but are facing stiff competition. This course will help you learn how to write a proposal that stands out. We believe that writing a convincing and attractive proposal is something we all can learn.
Course Objectives
- Learn to match your unique proposal idea and added value with funders’ needs
- Make sound GO / NO GO decisions on opportunities
- Know how to bring logic and structure to your proposal and improve the writing process
- Understand the appraisal procedures and criteria that will be used to evaluate your proposal
- Practise and raise your confidence in proposal writing
Course Agenda
This course is offered over a 4-day period, involving 8 sessions which lasts 1.5 hours each (2 sessions per day). The course is based on a participatory, active learning approach with a combination of guided virtual classroom and learning at your pace. - Susanne van Lieshout

Ms. Van Lieshout has over 20 years of experience in the overseas development sector working with many UN and other international organizations in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean (e.g. UNDP, UNICEF, ILO, USAID, UNESCO, EU, GTZ, MDF, CARE, PSI, etc.). She is a versatile trainer and has trained over 1000 people in more than 20 countries worldwide, from government, non-profit and private sector. - Rudolf van der Helm

MDF Netherlands
Mr. van der Helm has over 10 years of working experience with INGOs and Consultancy Firms in advisory and management positions in Asia, Africa and Europe. He excels in bringing theory and practice together and is at his best in a cross-cultural working environment. Rudolf is extensively involved in designing online modules for blended learning trajectories (e.g.using Moodle, H5P, MURAL), and is an expert in using online M&E tools (e.g. Kobotoolbox, SurveyMonkey, Sprockler).
